APPLICATION - BACKGROUND SUMMARY

Utah Paperbox (UPB) had a key machine in their manufacturing process in which a third party integrator had designed the control system using Cleveland Motion Controls (CMC) products as well as other control products. When the motion controller failed, UPB chose to call CMC as the complete control solution provider.

THE PROBLEM:

A third party integrator had designed and programmed the control system on UPB’s Lamination Line. When the motion controller failed, and lost the program, UPB learned that the integrator was no longer in business; so they turned to CMC for help.

CLEVELAND MOTION CONTROLS SOLUTION:

A complete ’turnkey’ solution was provided by CMC using FALCON, Motion interface, PLC I/O, Servo Amplifiers, and MDM5000 AC brushless servo motors. CMC’s service staff went on-location and installed, calibrated and tuned the new controls to maximize UPB's process accuracy and throughput. FALCON is a complete Programmable Automation Controller - PAC Package (IEC 61131-3) that integrates Process Control, Motion Controls, HMI, and Open Communications into one easy to use platform.

With the ability to integrate logic functions, motion and Visualization (HMI) in one platform it eliminated the need to separate PLC, panel PC and motion systems. FALCON’s "one-box" solution saved engineering, programming and commissioning time by simplifying the programming environment.
